Montana is HUD Wind Zone I, the inland wind designation. The more important number in Montana is roof load. Federal roof-load zoning puts designated Montana counties above the light South zone, and mountain and northern jurisdictions frequently require more than the federal minimum. We set blocking, piers and anchors against the local snow load requirement for the site, not a statewide average.
They can. As frost leaves the ground, secondary highways and county roads get posted with reduced weight limits to keep the pavement from breaking up. Interstates are generally not affected, but the last few miles to a rural site often are. That sometimes means a longer approved route or a short wait. Yes to both, and they are different jobs. A Kalispell or Whitefish delivery means US-93, mountain weather and heavy snow-load setup requirements.
